03/08/2007 Venezia Tarvisio Km 250

Fantastica giornata quella di oggi!!

Forse per la prima volta delle moto sono sbarcate a Piazza San Marco a Venezia … ed erano le nostre.

Il carico delle nostre BMW era avvenuto poco prima al Tronchetto a Venezia; con una gru sono state alzate e delicatamente posate in una chiatta.

E poi via attraverso il Canal Grande, con la gente che incredula ci salutava dai ponti.

Per non parlare dopo dello “sbarco” vero e proprio: abbiamo spinto le nostre pesanti BMW dall'approdo sino al Caffè Florian in Piazza San Marco, tra ali di folla che si apriva stupita al nostro passaggio.

Poi la cerimonia, gli amici, il rinfresco, la benedizione di Padre Vartanes, i giornali, le tv ….. una girandola di emozioni, conclusasi con la consegna da parte del Comune di Venezia di una targa da consegnare al Sindaco di Hiroshima; Cacciari ha infatti con piacere aderito all'iniziativa Sindaci per la Pace, che riunisce nel mondo oltre 1000 sindaci che hanno lanciato il loro messaggio contro la guerra atomica.

Ora finalmente l'avventura è iniziata: dopo le cerimonie, ritornati a Piazzale Roma, siamo partiti e dopo circa 250 km siamo giunti a Tarvisio; da qui, domani, “spiccheremo” il volo verso l'Ungheria ….

Today was fantastic!!!
Most likely for the first time ever, three motorbikes were allowed in the very central Venice: Piazza San Marco… the Marco Polo Team motorbikes!!! Our BMW bikes were loaded on a barge with a crane at the Tronchetto loading bay, people was waving from the bridges when through the Canal Grande we reach the San Marco Square. Eventually after unloading from the barge, we had to push our heavy BMW through a bewildered crowd of tourist up to the Caffè Florian that hosted the event. We were very proud to be allowed to park our bikes right in the centre of the square, in front of one of the main historical building in Venice. The Caffè Florian has been established there around 1750, it is the oldest Caffè in Italy. The event has been very successful: a lot of people, friends, journalist (TV and press) gathered around us, we had the buffet, the cake, and after the blessing from father Vartanes , we received a plate from Venezia barrow. We are delighted to be the ambassadors for Venice bringing this plate to the Hiroshima Mayor, representing the Mayor of Venice: Massimo Cacciari joining the “Mayor for Peace” initiative. Now finally our adventurous trip has started! After the event we went back onto the barge then we left from Piazzale Roma, reaching Tarvisio after 250 km. Tomorrow night we will be in Budapest…

今日は素晴しい一日でした。 多分ヴェネチアのサンマルコ寺院にオートバイが上陸したのは今までで初めてのことでしょう。そしてそれらは我々のバイクだったのです。

BMW のバイクはヴェネチアのトロンケットのちょっと手前からクレーンによって慎重に吊り上げられて、船に乗せられました。 そして大運河を通過すると、人々が橋の上から手を振って見送ってくれました。

「上陸」は本当の上陸とは言えないかもしれません、我々の重い BMW バイク人々をかき分けながらサンマルコ広場のカフェ・フロリアンまで押していったのですから。

そして出発式。友人達と、アペルティブと、ヴァルタネス神父による福音、テレビや新聞…多くの感動がありました。

またカッチャーリ市長は反核を訴える 1000 以上の市が連帯する「平和市長会議」への参加に興味を持ち、ヴェネチア市から広島市へ贈る記念品ももらって幕を閉じたのです。

ようやく今冒険は始まりました。出発式のあとはヴェネチアのローマ広場に戻って出発、夜は 250 ｋｍ走ってイタリアとオーストリア国境の町タルビシオに到着。明日はハンガリーまで向かうことになります。
